THE SHEPHERD’S HUT
A MAGICAL, ORIGINAL WOODEN SHEPHERD’S HUT.
Within the Wilderness is the most magical original wooden Shepherd’s Hut built circa 1910 in Shaftesbury, Dorset by shepherd’s hut building guru, John Farris. We were lucky enough to find the hut whilst exploring the Great Dorset Steam Fair.
We brought it back to its new home in East Kent where it would have traditionally being used by the shepherd to sleep in and keep warm whilst keeping an eye on his ewes lambing each spring. Our special shepherd’s hut makes the perfect retreat and private dressing room for the Bride and Groom on their wedding day. Think boho festival!
Inside, the hut is simply decorated and has been kept as original as possible with antique oak floors, painted wooden walls and a wood burning stove. We’ve made it cosier by adding some pretty Liberty print floral curtains, a day bed with vintage patchwork quilt and cushions, a soft rug, fairy lights and Victorian accessories. There’s also a dressing table and chair, so you can check your make up and hair and change into something different if you wish to.
Leading up to the hut are oak steps and the outside is clad in patinaed corrugated tin. making it look totally at one with the unspoilt surroundings of our Kent location.
It’s the perfect hideaway and creates an idyllic backdrop amongst the trees for photographs.
