The Wilderness forms part of the Stour valley and is very rich in biodiversity.

Over the last 100 years of intensive farming practices these important wetlands have been mechanically altered.

As a result many species have become endangered through loss of habitat.

The re-wilding and sustainability project focuses on protecting these endangered species.

Over the last 20 years big steps have been made in re-wilding.  Natural regeneration of the water meadows where these rare species can thrive.

These rare species include beavers, corn bunting, marsh harriers and sedge warblers.
